Date Night 6 of 2017: Minneapolis Institute of Art

When setting our 2017 marriage goals (which you can see HERE) we decided we were going to be intentional in dating one another. This meant regular date nights, trying things we haven’t done in the area or revisiting favorites.

Over my Spring Break, we decided it would be a good time to fit in an early April Date Night. Minneapolis Institute of Art was first on the list, and I thought it would be a great thing to do during the day while on break. I also thought it would be a good time to go to Black Coffee and Waffle Bar, which I have been dying to try!

The Apple Streusel Waffle did not disappoint! We decided just to split the one waffle to save a little bit of money, but I easily could have eaten the whole thing myself.

After finishing our waffle, we drove to Minneapolis Institute of Art (MIA) right as it opened. I went this past summer with my mom and sister, but Trevor had not yet been, so I was excited for him to go. I was also eager to visit again as it’s been a while since I’ve visited an art museum (since July when they visited).

Overall, I really enjoyed seeing some of the things I had not seen the first time and it got me SO excited for our upcoming trip this summer to see so many great museums! I’ll be sharing more soon about our summer plans.

What’s Up: February Life Update

Wow, we’re already nearing the end of February! I was doing pretty well with blogging in January + was hoping that trend would continue throughout 2017, however, I’ve already staggered off on the consistency.

Anywho, here’s a little life update!

  1. I haven’t talked much about it, but I have begun a new job as a 3-year-old teacher where I did my student teaching last semester. I’m transitioning into the role + can’t wait for the classroom to be solely mine, although I’m trying to embrace + enjoy the transition right now. I’m loving getting to know my coworkers better + feeling more comfortable in my role there.
  2. Trevor and I have finally established the dates of our Europe trip. We will be booking tickets shortly, but all things are a go in regards to getting off work for the appropriate amount of time. I’m so excited for us to do our first international trip together! I also cannot wait to visit Amsterdam for the first time. That will be our first stop on the trip before we head on to London + Paris (which I am also super psyched for).
  3. I’ve officially made it a (new) goal of mine this year to try more local coffee shops! I love Starbucks + Caribou, but there are so many trendy spots in the Twin Cities that I need to give a try. So far, I’ve hit up Spyhouse (NE + Uptown locations, still need to try Whittier + Northloop locations) + Groundswell Midway! All of these places are so hip + cool + I cannot wait to support local stores by trying them out! I did end up taking advantage of my free birthday drinks at both Starbucks + Caribou, but other than that I have done well with drinking locally.

This next month I’m going to try to blog more consistently, but we’ll see how that goes…

Date Night 3 of 2017: Pizza + Netflix

When setting our 2017 marriage goals (which you can see HERE) we decided we were going to be intentional in dating one another. This meant regular date nights, trying things we haven’t done in the area or revisiting favorites.

Last year for Valentine’s Day, I had to work at Noodles *barf* until about 6, so we picked up a pizza + headed home to watch some Netflix. This year, we decided to also celebrate Valentine’s Day with pizza + Netflix…now it will officially become a tradition! We ordered Pizza Luce pizza + had a coupon to order artichoke dip as well! We ordered and had it delivered shortly after I arrived home from work. It was such a wonderful night in… Trevor + I have an impossible time ever deciding on movies to watch but decided London Has Fallen since we watched Olympus Has Fallen back when we were dating.

While it was a pretty “insignificant” date night, it was so nice to spend so much time together. While we’re pretty sure that Date Night #4 probably won’t end up happening in February as it ought to, we’ll make do..

Uptown Adventures

actually left the apartment today and had a social life! You read that right, I swear I even have photos to prove it.

My darling friend Sarah and I enjoyed Uptown today. We went to Giordano’s which neither of us had been to before. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re interested in some good food. Sarah got some pizza and I enjoyed Italiano Salad – so good!

After Giordano’s, we drove down to Calhoun Square area and enjoyed Victoria’s Secret, Urban Outfitters, Francesca’s, and H&M…

Here are some nice candids of Sarah at Urban Outfitters… The Uptown UO is my absolute favorite!

Last but not least we hit up Spyhouse Coffee in Uptown, which I’ve been dying to try! Another highly recommended location from today. We decided we’re going to try the other 3 locations this year as well.

It was so nice to have a day out in Minneapolis and catch up with Sarah after her first week of student teaching! I cannot wait to try out more new places in the area!

Last Day of College

Today is my last day of college. WHAT.

I guess I shouldn’t feel as surprised as I do, I’ve been planning to be done a semester early for quite a while…but still, I cannot believe it.

I finished my BA in three and a half years. It’s a four-year degree that I worked my bum off for to complete early. A year at CUW and two and a half years at CSP… Mono.. Finals.. Countless hours studying or writing lesson plans.. Getting engaged and married.. Commuting.. Living on campus.. Meal plans.. Pet fish.. Coffee.. The list of college moments goes on and on.

I am so thankful on this last day as I reflect on my college career.
