When setting our 2017 marriage goals (which you can see HERE) we decided we were going to be intentional in dating one another. This meant regular date nights, trying things we haven’t done in the area or revisiting favorites!
This date has probably been my fave so far. Despite being kinda sick and not having a voice we went and saw our mutually favorite band: The 1975. It was our 3rd time seeing them, and Sarah came along this time. They put on one dang good show, and always have. Also, the tradition remains of me crying when Robbers is sung.
Probably the craziest part of the whole night was the drive there! We got caught in torrential down pours on our drive! Literally people were stopping on the highway because you couldn’t see in front of you. We stayed under an overpass for a bit when it started hailing. We also drove through a ginormous flooded area to try to get to a parking ramp. Never in my life have I been more grateful for the skyways in Saint Paul!
Enjoy these low-quality iPhone pictures primarily from Snapchat 😂
Also, if you’ve never listened to The 1975 – GO DO IT.
I cannot believe we are so far into January already?!
So I thought I would share with you what I have been listening to already this wonderful 2016. Trevor and I drove back from Green Bay to our apartment on Sunday so we were listening to the radio all day, but I have also been listening to a lot on Spotify as well.
Here are my top 10 listens so far this year:
Cake By The Ocean by DNCE – Trevor introduced this song to me over break and it’s so incredibly catchy! It had me dancing around all morning…
Four Walls by Broods – This is a really great chill song.. I stumbled on it on one of Spotify’s pre-made playlists.
Love Me by The 1975 – I have loved The 1975 (almost) ever since Trevor introduced me to them two years ago. Their new music is no exception. I cannot wait until May when I get to see them in concert again!
Back to You by Travis Voigt – I may be biased about this song, but it’s great and you should go listen. Trevor is recording and producing this album for Travis and this is the first single off of it! It’s super catchy and frequently got stuck in my head as Trevor would work on it at home. Plus I did the handlettering on the album artwork!
She Don’t Love You by Eric Paslay – Trevor and I went to a Chris Young concert over break and one of the openers was Eric Paslay, I instantly fell in love with this song!
Hey Jude by The Beatles – On Saturday I took photos of Andi & Alex’s concert in Green Bay. They were on The Voice this past season if you don’t know who they are. They’re from Green Bay so this was their debut concert. They covered Hey Jude as their encore song and I was reminded how much I love the song!
This past weekend, Trevor and I were given the wonderful opportunity to go down to Lifest in Oshkosh, WI. We both work for the company Pizza Ranch – which is a sponsor of Lifest. Our GMs gave us two free full event passes and hospitality bracelets for the event (WE LOVE YOU LORI & TODD).
Thursday, neither of us worked so we made it down by around 4 pm after we went and got our marriage license. (woohoo!) When we made it down we found out we could get free parking due to our sponsor bracelets – the great things just kept coming our way. We saw Loftland, Francesca Battistelli, Remedy Drive, and Newsboys. All were amazing!
Saturday we made it back down to see Skillet – they were fantastic as always! If I could be any famous artist, I would be Jen Ledger. She is such a boss! On Saturday, we also found the holy hospitality tent. We had searched all of Thursday for it. Of course, it was in the one location we never made it to. But we found it on Saturday! I enjoyed some free water and free Diet Pepsi. Trevor got a free Vita Ice. They also had awesome seating for the show, but we decided to take the full crowd experience.
God has been so good to Trevor and I through our time at Pizza Ranch. I don’t think I could ever thank the company enough.
Also – I am a little behind on posts. This really should have been posted yesterday & tomorrow’s post (that hopefully gets finished today) about my bridal shower should be today. But I think you all will forgive my busyness and let it go. 🙂
I have had quite the thrilling start of summer – jk.
My days have been spent in front of Netflix, watching either Friends or Gilmore Girls. While watching I am either a) blogging, b) editing pictures, c) planning future photoshoots, or d) playing either Solitaire or Riddle Stones.
Memorial Day Weekend was spent primarily at Celebrate De Pere. Saturday was my first time there and so Trevor showed me around. We were snuck behind the main stage with a guy from a band that Trevor knows. He told us to look for Jeff because he was in charge. We ended up knowing Jeff from when he worked at Pizza Ranch – so he gave us backstage passes. I’ve never felt so cool in my whole life. We took photos for a Journey cover band – Separate Ways. I was singin along the whole way. I loved listening to them as I took photos. It was quite a great experience. Then later that night The Romantics took the stage! We got some killer photos of them! I ended up shooting over 1000 pictures – a new high for me! Then, on Sunday the forecast called for rain all day. But we made our way over to the grounds anyway, hoping to shoot for Lonestar after a few local bands. Due to heavy downpour, we stuck around to shoot for a total of about 30 minutes. We snagged some plastic bags from a food stand as a part of the festival. I only had one hair tie – so I made sure to use it myself 😉 We fashioned ourselves some makeshift sleeves for the cameras and the lenses. It was a bit of a letdown honestly. Red Clover Band was fun to shoot for and Trevor knows them quite well. However, I was really hoping to shoot Lonestar. But I was soaked! There was no way I was staying in the cold rain for several hours for them.
Either way – I really enjoyed the opportunity to shoot these great bands.
I am excited for the future photo projects I have lined up!
